Health Care Partners of South Carolina Expands Eye Care Access with Mobile Eye Care Center’s Latest Community Collaboration

Comprehensive eye exams now coming directly to the Little River community through new collaboration with Little River Medical Center

CONWAY, S.C. — August 7, 2026 — For thousands of families across the Grand Strand, a trip to the eye doctor means finding transportation, taking time off work, and coordinating a visit to a separate facility — barriers that keep many from getting care at all. Health Care Partners of South Carolina (HCPSC) is working to close that gap, announcing today that its Mobile Eye Care Center will bring comprehensive eye exams directly to the Little River community through a new collaboration with Little River Medical Center (LRMC).

The announcement comes in celebration of Partner Appreciation Day during National Health Center Week 2026. This year’s national theme, “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most,” highlights how Community Health Centers use creativity and strategic collaborations to meet patients where they are and improve healthcare outcomes.

“At Health Care Partners of South Carolina, we believe that collaboration is the heartbeat of community health,” said Santina Mayo, CEO of Health Care Partners of South Carolina. “Meeting people exactly where they are is central to everything we do — it’s the spirit behind our ‘Health with Heart’ tagline. Eye care is essential to overall health, yet it’s often one of the hardest services for busy families to access. Bringing our Mobile Eye Care Center to the Little River community is exactly the kind of innovative, community-first approach we’re proud to build.”

“The partnership with Health Care Partners is a wonderful example of what’s possible when two Community Health Centers with a shared mission come together. This is what community health is all about,” said Pamela Davis, CEO of Little River Medical Center. “We’re grateful to Health Care Partners for helping us expand access to vision care for our patients. By bringing vision services directly to patients at our Little River Medical Center, Little River location, we’re creating a more connected, integrated healthcare experience and making it easier for individuals and families to receive the comprehensive health care services they need.”

Through the collaboration, members of the Little River community will be able to schedule comprehensive eye exams with HCPSC’s Mobile Eye Care Center team without traveling to a separate facility. Co-locating services in this manner reduces transportation barriers, simplifies scheduling for busy families, and ensures eye care is woven directly into patients’ medical homes.

This latest collaboration adds to a growing list of community partners HCPSC’s Mobile Eye Care Center has served across the region, including Pee Dee Head Start, Horry County Schools, and Careteam Plus, Inc. — organizations that regularly turn to HCPSC to extend trusted care to the families they serve.

“We could not ask for a better partner than Health Care Partners of South Carolina,” said Johanna Haynes, CEO of Careteam Plus, Inc. “We love knowing that when we refer our patients for vision, dental, or behavioral health services, we’re sending them to a partner we trust to take care of them.”

Each collaboration reflects the same underlying commitment: taking the Mobile Eye Care Center directly into the communities that need it most, and removing barriers between people and the care they deserve.
