In late July and early August, Graduations were held for the National Diabetes Prevention Program hosted by Health Care Partners of SC. This year, our program had 48 participants within the three sites. Despite the thread of Covid-19, our sessions were completed virtually and in-person with strict social distancing. This program even included some of our HCPSC staff families, who all were successful in the program! Some of the participants chose to attend the Graduation Ceremonies with their loved ones in recognition of their year-long commitment to lifestyle change in order to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Our groups of participants lost a total of almost 7% of their combined body weight and improved their physical activity minutes to reach that positive lifestyle change.

The Diabetes Prevention Program is currently recruiting for new sessions to begin in early September. If you are interested in decreasing your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes by 58-70%, please call 843-488-6038 or email marcey.westerbeck@hcpsc.org
